Terms of service
Last updated 29 October 2026 (customer payments section)
These terms are the agreement between you (and the business you use Sumi for) and Int+, the makers of Sumi. By creating an account or using Sumi, you agree to them.
1. Your account
- You must be at least 18 and allowed to act for the business you set up.
- Give accurate details, keep your password private, and switch on login codes if you can. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- The business owner controls who joins the business in Sumi and what each person can do.
2. The beta
Sumi is in beta and free to use while it is. Beta accounts are real accounts: your data is kept when paid plans start. Some features may change, be added or be removed as we improve Sumi.
3. Paid plans
When paid plans start, we will tell you the prices at least 30 days before you are asked to pay, and you can choose whether to continue. Fees are charged in advance for each month or year and are not refundable for part periods, unless the law says otherwise. If a payment fails, we may limit your account to reading and exporting until it is paid.
4. Your data
Your books and business information belong to you. You give us permission to store and process them only to provide Sumi to you, as described in our privacy policy. You can ask for a copy of your data at any time.
5. Accounting and tax
Sumi helps you keep your books, but it is a tool, not an accountant, auditor or tax adviser. You are responsible for checking the figures, what you file with tax authorities and the decisions you make. AI features make suggestions and drafts that you should review before relying on them. Sumi never posts an AI suggestion to your books without you accepting it, except the automations you switch on yourself, such as matching a bank line that exactly fits one of your rules.
6. Payments from your customers
Sumi does not collect or hold payments from your customers. Your invoices show your own bank details, your customers pay you directly, and you record the payment in Sumi (or match it from your bank statement).
7. Fair use
Do not use Sumi to break the law, deceive anyone, send spam, upload harmful code, try to get into other people's accounts, or overload or copy the service. We may suspend accounts that do, and will tell you why unless the law prevents us.
8. The desktop app
The Windows and Mac app keeps a copy of your books on one computer. You are responsible for that computer's security. Changes made offline update your online books when it reconnects. If the same record was changed in both places in a way that can't be combined, Sumi will ask you to resolve it.
9. Availability
We work hard to keep Sumi running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will never be interrupted. We may need to pause it for maintenance, and will try to give notice.
10. Liability
Sumi is provided “as is”. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, lost profits or lost data caused by things outside our reasonable control. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or ₦50,000 if you have not paid us anything. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Ending your account
You can stop using Sumi and ask us to close your account at any time. We may close an account that breaks these terms, or if we stop offering Sumi; if we do, we will give you a reasonable chance to export your data first, unless the law prevents it.
12. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you at least 30 days before the change takes effect. If you keep using Sumi after that, the new terms apply.
13. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Disputes will be handled by the courts of Lagos State, unless the law where you live gives you the right to use your local courts.
